As a part of pregnancy, purchasing maternity clothes is inevitable. I just wasn't quite prepared for the whole thing. I still wanted to be in my cute button up clothes that made me look like I actually had a figure. But as the stomach started to push out, pants with buttons were just not cutting it.
So I headed to the store to see what I had. My first stop had me looking at $30-$40 pants. I don't remember the last time I spent that much money on pants. Not to mention, I had to get more than one pair for work and at least one pair of shorts. After all, it is Florida and even though it was October, we still had our air conditioner on. I soon realized that maternity clothes were a niche market and as the consumer, I was going to have to change my shopping strategy. For example, if I wanted just a regular pair of pants, I could go into a dozen stores within a few miles radius and come out with a great pair of pants at a price that I was willing to spend. But for maternity clothes shopping, I was at the mercy of the stores. Not every store even has a maternity section so my store selection was cut down considerably. Because stores know that you can't get these types of clothes everywhere, they have the luxury of taking advantage of hormonal women getting fatter. When it comes to maternity clothes, pregnant women have to have them! There are just no options other than a large muu muu or circus tent.
Through all of that, I did manage to get some maternity clothes for my growing belly. All maternity pants have elastic in them and they are very comfortable. Of course no sooner did I get maternity pants did Bean say "Cool! More room for me?" and started to move forwards.
