It's All Fun and Games

Right now is the most fun that I have had so far with Abigail. Not that I didn't have fun before but between the nursing, sleep deprivation and crying fits that I couldn't figure out, having a baby was and has been a lot of work. However, now that Abby is becoming more mobile and thus more portable so things are a lot more fun. We took her to the park for the first time. There wasn't much more than the swings that we could do but she loved it! We were so excited that the park by our house had a playground with baby swings. These are just the swings with the leg holes that little ones can't fall out of. She even went down the slide on our lap but didn't seem too sure of what that was about. But the swing was a success.

I am also enjoying outings more with her. Even the simple things like grocery shopping or going out to dinner is becoming more easy. Give that kid Cheerios or a cut up banana, and she is happy feeding herself! No longer do I have to constantly sit there and feed her everything. Of course that also comes with some downsides. When she is either sick of sitting in her high chair or done eating, she wants out and can vocally let us know! Good thing she is cute...

Abigail's food has also become more like big people food. I am feeding her cut up chicken, carrots, pieces of bread, etc. I am trying to give her pieces of anything that I am eating. Whether it is a bagel or a green bean, I am letting her try it out. Of course since she is her father's daughter, the green beans and other green veggies aren't quite making it. So I am giving her different types of vegetables like corn, sweet potato and pumpkin. Though the sweet potato and pumpkin really require me to spoon feed them to her because they aren't too easily picked up by her.

Abby is also progressing wonderfully in day care. Yesterday was the first day that she ate the school lunch instead of me providing her with lunch. I was a little nervous but she ate bits of cheese pizza and fruit cocktail! Our major hurdle with her eating school lunch is that I don't know what is in a lot of stuff. Since even their hamburgers have pork in them, we opted to have day care think she is a vegetarian. She doesn't need meat for lunch and dinner every day anyways.
Day care even asked us to start sending Abby with shoes since...drum roll...she has started standing by herself!!!! But she doesn't seem to have much confidence in doing it since once we let go she will flap her arms in search of something or someone to hold onto. But it will just be a matter of days or weeks at the most before she starts taking that first step. Right now she will make the attempt but since she doesn't have the balance, she will quickly head for the floor face first. But we don't stand her up unattended so she doesn't ever really hit the floor.
It is just so amazing to see her develop from one day to another. Our infant becomes a baby and our baby is becoming a toddler. What is more scary is that her first birthday is coming up in just a few weeks! It is unbelievable to think of where we were last year at this time...other than the fact that I was huge and waddling. I guess I don't really miss that part too much.

Aaahh! She's getting so big! When did she grow limbs? I just saw her 2 months ago, but she looks like a toddler now!
By the way, I've said it before, but the pictures with Pooh and the gang are brilliant.
Love you guys!
