A Little Behind

Well, I am a little behind in my posts but I will try to do a little catching up from the first couple of weeks.
After the first month at home, the tiredness definitely started to hit me. I tried to get as many naps in as possible but I was determined to make this breastfeeding thing work and so we worked on making sure Abigail ate as often as possible. Not only to make sure she kept her weight up, but to also make sure I kept up my supply. Over the second and third month, I finally felt like I had this thing down. I even was able to use a pump so Josh could feed her, which was a welcome break for me. We had read that babies can sometimes have an aversion to switching from being fed from mommy to a bottle so we wanted to work this out as best as possible. I was going to have to go back to work at 12 weeks so Abby eating from a bottle was essential. Thankfully, it really went very smoothly.

Abigail started to make strides from newborn to little baby. She finally started smiling and even though we couldn't tell if it was a reaction to us or not, we didn't care. Here is one of the first smiles we caught on camera.
This was taken just after I fed her so she was VERY happy! We keep the camera on the couch in the family room to catch every smile we can on the camera to share. We also finally were able to start going out with her in public. Our pediatrician recommended not taking her out for the first two months because of germs. That meant me staying indoors or just walking around the neighborhood. While the walking outside was nice, the walls of our house startted to close in. Finally, I talked to the pediatrician who said we can start to take her out after 6 weeks but keep her away from kids and crowds. I was never so exited to go to Publix before! I packed up Abby, our baby sling and the diaper bag and felt this amazing sense of freedom. We made it there and back with no problems! Josh and I started to venture out a bit more to more exotic places like B.J.s and Target! It was a lot of fun.

Finally, the two month mark passed and Abby got her shots. The nurse was so good that Abby didn't even realize the pain until it was pretty much over. We were able to pick her up into her second scream and comforted her right away. It was hard to see her so upset but I am glad she had her shots. She is growing up very quickly!
